This web site was created as a tribute to my good friend Jamiel Saliba, to capture some of the unique phases that he (and others) would often say. He loved visiting this site, and would often share with others who were trying to make sense of his unique metaphors. Unfortunately, God had other plans for Jamiel, and he was taken from us on January 9, 2020. I can only imagine God is now visiting this very site to make sense of his conversations with Jamiel.
In honor of Jamiel, we have created this page as part of the website to provide a forum for family, friends, and colleagues to share their thoughts, stories, and wisdom gained from knowing Jamiel. I hope they give you some indication of what a wonderful man he was.
As he used to say: “Roll Tide Roll, and Attack in Force”.
I miss you my friend.
THOUGHTS, STORIES, AND WISDOM
When i first started my career in staffing as a “lowly” entry-level proposal writer, I worked long hours and found great satisfaction in developing strong relationships with my stakeholders. Without a doubt, my favorite “customer” was Jamiel. Given my non-producing role, I was not eligible for COMSYS/Tapfin President’s club. However, one year Jamiel was unable …
About 6 years ago I was standing in the parking lot of a Las Vegas hotel waiting to get a cab to go to dinner when one of my colleagues said “have you ever met Jamiel Saliba?” I had not and was introduced to this large man with a strange kind of flowery sun hat …
We have lost an incredible leader and friend. Jamiel Saliba, passed unexpectedly, which has left many at a loss for words and holes in our hearts. Jamiel was one-of-a-kind and someone said it best to me when they said, they broke the mold with him. Jamiel was a good ‘ol boy from Birmingham who had …
One day back in 2006 I was feeling really low. Multiple events had occurred in my DC office and I was having a lot of doubts about my ability to right our course. Jamiel arrived in our office and set a pair of clearly worn army boots on my desk and walked away. When I …
Kip , I wanted to share a Jamiel story . I am sure you remember he was a retired Colonel from the military and served I believe as a Chief of Staff to a General . Shortly after the Ventura merger I scheduled a trip to Atlanta to meet the team . For many years …
Words seem so inadequate to capture this man’s life and his effect on so many. A personality and heart larger than life and a bear hug to match, he was at first – formidable, but it took only a minute to see the teddy bear inside. I am sure every one of us can remember …
When I was named as the HR Director over TAPFIN, Jamiel took me under his wing and invited me to his Leadership meeting at his condos in Florida… I’m sure there was some trepidation by the team wondering who this HR lady is from Corporate and what does she want! I totally understand that…however, Jamiel …
Jamiel, a great man in words, friendship and an amazing husband, father and grandfather. When I was introduced by Kip to Jamiel, the first thing he said was that “a friend of Kip is a friend of mine”. This speaks volumes about Jamiel, and the trust he put in those close to him. During the …
Jamiel and I met several years ago in a work context, but quickly became friends. When I got the call that Jamiel had passed – I was in an airport lounge in Florida at the time – I literally felt like my world had changed in such a profound way. Even after I moved out …
